Very little is known about election law in general, especially by the public. It's no secret that money is exceedingly influential in our political process. It is necessary to understand how the flow of money is managed in political circles and how that affects policy.
Recent foreign involvement in our political process has shown how cheaply elections can be influenced. Now is the time to understand the law surrounding election finance more thoroughly, using these recent events as a point of comparision.
It is impossible for our democracy to function properly without widespread knowledge of the funding going towards the media we consume. Furthermore, the democratization of knowledge of how to leverage the legal framework in place will allow the public to utilize it more freely.
